Cutback Asphalts

Cutback asphalts are created by adding petroleum solvents to asphalt. The process creates asphalt products with a lower viscosity, allowing them to be used in temperatures too low for traditional asphalt pavements to seal properly. Eventually, the solvents evaporate, providing a surface with similar rigidity to straight-run asphalt cement. 

Cenovus Asphalt offers a range of standard and specialty-grade medium-cure (MC) and slow-cure (SC) asphalt cutbacks. These can be used for road construction and maintenance processes as well as some industrial applications.
