Going the Distance for Airport Paving in BC
Q2, 2021 — Dease Lake, BC CANADA
One of our core values “Do it right” means holding ourselves accountable for the work of our teams and partners, helping us achieve results across all aspects of a project.
In 2021, Husky Asphalt provided 800 tons of PG58-37P asphalt to the Dease Lake Airport in Northern British Columbia for a runway paving initiative by Knelsen Sand & Gravel, part of the airport’s revitalization.
Getting to Dease Lake from our production facility in Lloydminster, Alberta (2,000 kilometres away) is no easy task, requiring precise planning from our logistics team and our friends at Westcan. Together we were able to make sure the product was shipped and delivered on time and on spec by increasing the maximum carrying temperature (with support from our technical services lab), storing the product in dedicated tanks, and using carefully scheduled driving teams.
With this collaboration, the project was a success – here’s what Darrell Quist from Knelsen said about it:
“It is quite a logistics juggle to have a high degree of inclement weather uncertainty combined with the trip time. The efforts made by everyone for Dease Lake are extremely appreciated and a recognized success.”
